About Marcela Ordonez

Marcela has been a Peruvian FEI Steward since 2013. She has always been around horses, initially as a child with her parents, riding and learning their care every weekend. She learned to jump at the age of 8, starting with small competitions and then reaching a maximum height of 1.10. Her love of horses and sport led her to pursue becoming an FEI steward. She finds being a steward, she can contribute to the good treatment of the horse and enforce the rules of good sport. Her family includes her mother, two brothers, and a sister who lives in the USA for more than 30 years.

Outside of equestrian sports, Marcela is an industrial and business engineer. She has an MBA and postgraduate studies and diplomas. Her focus is industrial safety. In Peru she has a company that imports chemical inputs for industry. She also serves as a firefighter (in Peru being a firefighter is entirely voluntary) and belongs to an animal protection society. Being an FEI Steward in large competitions, she enforces security issues, which includes making evacuation routes and emergency visual plans.
