About Shelley Ryan

Shelley grew up on a small farm in southern Ontario where her parents collected a menagerie of horses and other farm animals. She attended college and graduated with a BSc and took the opportunity to become a Veterinary Technologist and became the assistant to the resident Veterinarian at Windfields Farm in Oshawa, Ont. This was a very large, prominent, Thoroughbred facility which allowed her a great deal of experience working with broodmares, foaling, breaking yearlings, sales and everything in between.

Fast forward to a move to Lexington, KY, raising a family and getting involved with Pony Club when her daughters started riding. She volunteered and organized Horse Trials, and joined Boards to contribute to the sport. Eventually, with the support of many officials, she became an Eventing “r” TD and a Level 2 FEI Eventing Steward.

She retired from her day job in 2018 after 23 years as a Pediatric Physical Therapist at Shriners Hospital for Children. She now spends her time enjoying 4 grand kids, helping at many horse trials, officiating and/or volunteering for this great sport. She is also the Young Rider Coordinator for Area 8.
