  • Competition Internship

    Job Summary

    Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the world-renowned Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event (K3DE) is seeking a Competition Intern who will support the planning and execution of the K3DE. This unpaid role provides experience in event operations, assisting with rider and official communications, competition logistics, scheduling, scoring, and on-site support. The intern will work closely with the competition management team to ensure smooth and professional delivery of all competition elements while gaining valuable insight into the organization of a world-class equestrian event.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    · Conduct inventory of items, both indoors and outdoors, and develop system for tracking &

    management

    · Assist the Competition Manager and staff with planning and coordination of competition logistics.

    · Support communications with riders, owners, grooms, officials, and volunteers before and during the

    event.

    · Help organize and distribute competition schedules, start lists, and results.

    · Assist in managing entry paperwork, stabling assignments, and accreditation materials.

    · Provide on-site support for competition operations, including scoring, timing, and stewarding needs.

    · Support competition-related hospitality and award ceremonies.

    · Help troubleshoot and resolve issues during competition to ensure a smooth event experience.

    · Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and office support, as needed.

    · Other duties as assigned

    · Represent Equestrian Events, Inc. professionally in interactions with participants, spectators, and

    partners.


    Qualifications & Skills

    · Current student or recent graduate in Event Management, Sport Management, Communications, or a

    related field.

    · Strong interest in equestrian sport and event operations; prior horse show or competition experience a

    plus.

    · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

    · Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

    · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and comfortable learning new software.

    · Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    · Flexible, proactive, and resourceful with strong problem-solving skills.

    · Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and evenings, during event operations.

    · Ability to lift 25lbs and perform duties in outdoor, varied weather conditions.

    · Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  • Hospitality Host/Hostess

    Job Summary

    Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the world-renowned Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event (K3DE), is seeking Hospitality Hosts/Hostesses to join our team during the lead-up and execution of the 2026 event. The Hospitality Host/Hostess plays a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience during the Kentucky Three-Day Event. This paid position is responsible for welcoming and assisting VIP guests, sponsors, and hospitality patrons in designated areas, ensuring they receive top-tier service throughout the event. The Hospitality Host/Hostess will help manage seating arrangements, monitor hospitality spaces, answer guest inquiries, and provide support to the hospitality team to maintain a professional, welcoming, and enjoyable environment.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    · Greet and welcome hospitality guests with professionalism and warmth.

    · Assist with check-in, credential verification, reserved tables and seating arrangements within hospitality

    areas.

    · Provide top quality guest services, including but not limited to, answering questions, giving directions,

    and addressing special requests.

    · Train, coordinate, and support event volunteers.

    · Set and reset tents.

    · Monitor hospitality space to ensure it remains cleaned and organized.

    · Support guest experience activations within hospitality areas.

    · Handle guest concerns promptly and efficiently.

    · Maintain knowledge of event schedules, amenities, and venue layout to provide accurate information.

    · Communicate regularly with the Director of Development, Hospitality Manager and collaborate closely

    with the Equestrian Events and Catering Teams

    · Uphold brand standard by ensuring a positive and memorable guest experience.

    · Other duties as assigned to support the success of EEI and K3DE.


    Qualifications & Skills

    · Previous customer service, hospitality, or event experience preferred.

    · Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and friendly demeanor.

    · Ability to remain composed and approachable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

    · Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

    · Team player with a proactive attitude and willingness to assist where needed.

    · Flexibility to work long hours, evening, weekend, and outdoors in varying weather conditions during

    the event

    · Team-oriented, with a positive and professional attitude.

    · Flexible and able to adapt quickly to shifting priorities.

    · Physically able to lift/carry up to 50lbs. and navigate the Kentucky Horse Park grounds.

    · Passion for equestrian sport is a plus but not required.


    Compensation

    · $2,000 for the duration of training and event dates listed above*

    * Monday-Wednesday exceptions will be made for class. Thursday-Friday, an excused absence letter

    will be provided for class.

    · Completion and return of a W-9 form required by April 1, 2026

    · Reports directly to the Director of Development and supports the full Equestrian Events team

  • Ticketing & Administration Assistant

    Job Summary

    Equestrian Events, Inc. (EEI), producer of the world-renowned Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event (K3DE) is seeking a Ticketing and Administration assistant. The Ticketing Assistant plays a key role in the daily operations of the ticket office, ensuring smooth and efficient ticket sales and customer service. This paid position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, particularly during event weeks. The Ticketing Assistant will support ticket processing, customer inquiries, event preparation, and on-site execution.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    - Answer ticketing phone lines during normal business hours (9:00 AM - 4:30 PM).

    - Process ticket orders via phone, email, and postal service using the Etix ticket system.

    - Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals contacting the ticket office.

    - Monitor and respond to voicemails daily, forwarding requests to the appropriate personnel when

    necessary.

    - Respond to customer emails in a timely and professional manner.

    - Track and manage redeemed donation certificates.

    - Maintain records of ticket orders for Owners, Sponsors, and Competitors.

    - Enter new customer profiles into the Etix ticketing system.

    - Coordinate with other park offices to distribute National Horse Centre passes before the event.

    - Assist with ticket packaging and mailing for Hospitality, Preferred Parking, and Tailgating passes.

    - Update daily ticket sales results in the shared file.

    - Organize and coordinate Event Box Office (EBO) volunteers for the event.

    - Maintain an updated list of attendees for the Five Star and Lexington Clubs for name tag printing.

    - Count, order, and distribute wristbands for various clubs and sponsors.

    - Update order forms and information sheets and upload them to the shared file.

    - Attend monthly board meetings.

    - Train interns on ticket fulfilment and other assigned duties.

    - Pack, move, and set up office/ticketing equipment for the Event Box Office (EBO) and Mobile Box

    Offices (MBOs).

    - Clean and prepare EBO and MBOs before event setup.

    - Be available to work April 21 through April 28 of the Defender Kentucky Three-Day Event

    (April 23th- April 26th 2026 ).



    Qualifications & Skills

    · Strong customer service skills, collaborative and professional demeanour.

    · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ticketing software (Etix preferred).

    · Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    · Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

    · Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

    · Flexibility to work extended hours during event weeks.

    · Prior experience in event ticketing, hospitality, or customer service is a plus.

    - Adapt to non-standard work hours during event week.

    - Assist in ticketing operations for other equine events as needed.

    - Pack up Event Box Office and Mobile Box Office post-event, organizing and storing materials

    properly.

    - Oversee Glamping accommodations if offered.

    - Maintain a daily log of hours.

    - Work at trade fair booths as needed.

    - Lift and move objects up to 35 lbs.

    - Provide administrative assistance to the EEI Office as needed.

    - Perform other duties as assigned.
